Prof. Oscar Castillo, Ph.D., D.Sc.

Biography: Oscar Castillo holds the Doctor in Science degree (Doctor Habilitatus) in Computer Science from the Polish Academy of Sciences (with the Dissertation “Soft Computing and Fractal Theory for Intelligent and Manufacturing”). He is a Professor of Computer Science in the Graduate Division, Tijuana Institute of Technology, Tijuana, Mexico. In addition, he is serving as Research Director of Computer Science and head of the research group on Hybrid Fuzzy Intelligent Systems. Currently, he is President of HAFSA (Hispanic American Fuzzy Systems Association) and Past President of IFSA (International Fuzzy Systems Association). Prof. Castillo is also Chair of the Mexican Chapter of the Computational Intelligence Society (IEEE). He also belongs to the Technical Committee on Fuzzy Systems of IEEE and to the Task Force on “Extensions to Type-1 Fuzzy Systems”. He is also a member of NAFIPS, IFSA and IEEE. He belongs to the Mexican Research System (SNI Level 3). His research interests are in Type-2 Fuzzy Logic, Fuzzy Control, Neuro-Fuzzy and Genetic-Fuzzy hybrid approaches. He has published over 300 journal papers, 10 authored books, 60 edited books, 300 papers in conference proceedings, and more than 300 chapters in edited books, in total more than 1080 publications (according to Scopus) with h index of 88 and more than 26000 citations according to Google Scholar. He has been Guest Editor of several successful Special Issues in the past, like in the following journals: Applied Soft Computing, Intelligent Systems, Information Sciences, Soft Computing, Non-Linear Studies, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, JAMRIS and Engineering Letters. He is currently Associate Editor of the Information Sciences Journal, Journal of Engineering Applications on Artificial Intelligence, International Journal of Fuzzy Systems, Journal of Complex Intelligent Systems, Granular Computing Journal and Intelligent Systems Journal (Wiley). He was Associate Editor of Journal of Applied Soft Computing and IEEE Transactions n Fuzzy Systems. He has been elected IFSA Fellow in 2015 and MICAI Fellow in 2016. Finally, he recently received the Recognition as Highly Cited Researcher in 2017 and 2018 by Clarivate Analytics and Web of Science.
Dr. Deepak Gupta (SMIEEE, MACM)

Biography: Dr. Deepak Gupta received a B.Tech. Degree in 2006 from the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, India. He received an M.E. degree in 2010 from Delhi Technological University, India, and Ph. D. degree in 2017 from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, India. He completed his Post-Doc from the National Institute of Telecommunications (Inatel), Brazil, in 2018. He has co-authored more than 207 journal articles, including 168 SCI papers and 45 conference articles. He has authored/edited 60 books, published by IEEE-Wiley, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, CRC Press, DeGruyter, and Katsons. He has filled four Indian patents. He is the convener of the ICICC, ICDAM, ICCCN, ICIIP & DoSCI Springer conferences series. He is Associate Editor of Computer & Electrical Engineering, Expert Systems, Alexandria Engineering Journal, Intelligent Decision Technologies. He is the recipient of the 2021 IEEE System Council Best Paper Award. He has been featured in the list of top 2% scientist/researcher databases worldwide. In India, Rank 1 as a researcher in the field of healthcare applications (as per Google Scholar citation) and Ranked #78 in India among Top Scientists 2022 by Research.com. He is also working towards promoting Startups and also serving as a Startup Consultant. He is also a series editor of “Elsevier Biomedical Engineering” at Academic Press, Elsevier, “Intelligent Biomedical Data Analysis” at De Gruyter, Germany, and “Explainable AI (XAI) for Engineering Applications” at CRC Press. He is appointed as Consulting Editor at Elsevier. Accomplished productive collaborative research with grants of approximately $144000 from various international funding agencies, and he is Co-PI in an International Indo- Russian Joint project of Rs 1.31CR from the Department of Science and Technology.
Dr. Sunil Kumar, PhD

Biography: Leading a team at Corteva Agriscience dedicated towards developing solutions for crop improvement. I am applying AI/ ML on molecular data to generate meaningful insights and translate them into enhanced farming solutions. Previously worked in basic as well as translational research @ EPFL, SIB and Philips Research. All through my career I have successfully established multiple collaborations and worked with them for solving fundamental scientific problems and intellectual property generation.
Dr. Xiaochun Cheng

Biography: Xiaochun Cheng received the BEng Degree in Computer Engineering in 1992, PhD in Computer Science in 1996. He visited Queen’s University of Belfast between 1997 and 1998. He was a Postdoc Research Associate at Sheffield University between 1998 and 2000. He was a Lecturer in Reading University between 2000 and 2005. He has been a Senior Lecturer since 2006 and since 2012 the Computer Science Project Coordinator in Middlesex University. One project was funded with 16 Million Euro budget. He is a member of the IEEE SMC Technical Committee on Computational Intelligence, IEEE SMC Technical Committee on Intelligent Internet Systems, IEEE Communications Society Communications and Information Security Technical Committee, BCS AI Specialist Group. He contributed for five times best conference paper awards so far. He won National Science and Technology Advance Award.
Dr. Md. Kafiul Islam

Biography: Dr. Md Kafiul Islam received his B.Sc. in EEE from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Gazipur, Bangladesh in 2008 and completed his Ph.D. from Dept. of ECE, NUS, Singapore in the area of Neural Signal Processing back in 2015. Currently, he is serving as an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Independent University, Bangladesh. His research interests include biomedical instrumentation and signal processing, neural signal processing, brain-computer interface (BCI), etc. He is actively involved as a TPC member of several international conferences, and he reviews Journal articles frequently. He is also involved as a member of the Editorial Board of several journals. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access and Guest Associate Editor of a Special Issue in Frontiers in Computational Neuroscience. He has served as TPC Chair of ICAEE 2019, TPC Secretary of ICAEE 2017, Publication Chair of IEEE SPICSCON 2019, Track Co-Chair and Session Chair of IEEE TENSYMP 2020, and Track Co-Chair of ICAICT 2020. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, IEEE EMBS, and IEEE SPS Society. He is the Branch Counselor of the IEEE IUB Student Branch since 2020 and won the Best branch counselor award from IEEE BD Section in 2020, and 2022 (Honorable Mention). He is an active Professional Volunteer of the IEEE Bangladesh Section. He is a Publons/WoS Academy Mentor and winner of Publons/WoS Top Reviewer in the Multidisciplinary area in 2017. He has published more than 50 (in total) peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters with Google Scholar Citations of 1330+ and an impact factor contribution of around 57+. Dr. Islam has won several best paper/presentation awards in IEEE conferences such as ICCIT 2018 at UIU, Dhaka, ICDPR 2020 at NTU, Singapore, ETCCE 2020 at UIU, Dhaka, ICCCAS 2022, ICCCAS 2023 in Singapore, and Best Abstract in IEEE CS BDS Summer Symposium 2022. His research has also been recognized by IUB during Employee Recognition Awards in 2020 where he won Publication Excellence in all three categories: journal articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters.
